This year has been a doozy and April has been a rough month for many. As our world continues to find ways to fight COVID 19 we are seeing people stuck at home and unable to engage in the world in ways they have previously. This month whether we were “stuck” (safe) at home or essential we took the time to ask some questions and see what our community was up to and we loved hearing your answers. So now we want to take the time to share some of your responses!
Week One We’ve only just begun
Week one of quarantine we began to see many turning into chefs and crafters extraordinaire! We asked what you were whipping up at home food or crafts and got some awesome pictures! Check some of these out!
Princess Kat designed a Harrow out of scraps, to drag through her pastures and help her tidy the farm.
I’m cooking more for my kids and asking them to become involved, plus spending more time with them doing fun things like baseball at the park. Getting our minds off of the “Thing!” ????
And replacing it with more quality time. I think it is a therapy for me to be around them more often!
Week 2 All you need is Love
We are all starting to feel the lack of social interaction even the introverts! So we wanted to know what you were doing to get your social time in. While some of you were still working we wanted to hear from those of you who were really stuck at home on the daily with your children or at home alone.
I work as a carer taking care of my wife who suffers from 3 autoimmune diseases which are all terminal.
I’ve had to keep her isolated from our neighbors and myself as much as possible since December when the outbreak was first announced by China. not that she was able to venture outside much, to begin with.
I don’t have much time for my hobbies anymore so iron throne is my escape from the reality of what’s happening in the world.
I also run errands for my elderly neighbors. and neighbors with disabled kids to try and help out.
As an EMT I have to work almost every day. So I have a hard time really understanding the feelings of people who stuck at home, but I’m quite sure that I would become crazy.
Mine is very simple. Being a solo truck driver I go to many places, but mainly only for business in the real world, no time these days to socialize. My social needs are gotta from social media especially here lately. Line and Discord, social apps like those, well other than the game that is.
Zoom and facetime have been my friend though this. I’ve been making sure to check in with my family members as often as I can on the phone even though I hate phone calls, and facetime with them as well about once a week. My friends and I have been sending a lot of memes, TikTok’s, and videos to each other to help break up stress and to connect with one another. The game and line can be a huge social outlet for me as well, so that has been a blessing!
I’m stuck in my house since the end of January. 6 weeks recovery after surgery, 2 weeks extra cause of a pulmonary embolism due to that surgery. the first 7 weeks were great, very relaxing but then they closed the schools ???? 3 of the 4 kids are at home 24/7, driving me crazy ???????? ….. so I took advantage of this lockdown to switch and redo the rooms upstairs. Well actually, I put my hubby to work, while I played the game …. and the kids? they wanted to help him with the painting ????????????
Week 3 Giving back
We wanted to hear from those of you giving back during this time. We have many people within our community who are essential workers and still going out and about every day to make sure that the world is taken care of.
Well I’m keeping about 6000 (was 10k, but courts have reduced that) inmates safe in the county jail. We have zero cases so far and for being the 3rd largest jail system in the USA I think we must be doing something right. My officers and I have to keep ourselves isolated away from family and basically self-quarantine to keep doing our job so I’m very proud of my peeps.
Still working, pediatrics. Shout out to all the healthcare folks on the COVID floors. ♡
My daughter is making masks and my brother is making group runs to Costco to get things for people who can’t get out. my main contribution is not killing anyone
